The Kid in the Red Jacket changed my head when Molly’s parents got divorced and none of them wanted her, and so she was in a foster home for a long time until her nonny adopted her but Howard never thought of Molly’s past. It made me think that you should always consider others feelings and think if you are making the right choice. Howard also had to move away from his friends and moving was really hard for him and it makes me think that always be gentle and kind to them if they have to go through something hard.
It changed my heart because nice words and kindness can always change you as a human and that small things can make a big impact because a boy went up to Howard to say “nice kick,” and Howard thought those two words are the words that he heard in a long time. I think that the Kid in the Red Jacket is a powerful book and you should definitely read it.
